Rural Health Workforce Shortages and Strategies to Address Them

This module discusses rural health workforce shortages and factors contributing to those shortages. Such factors include, but are not limited to, socioeconomic factors, geographic isolation, limitations in infrastructure, education restrictions, and different political/policy values. Evidence-based strategies can help address these health workforce shortage issues and take advantage of the opportunities to improve or reshape the rural health workforce at the federal, state, and/or local levels and promote health equity in Virginia and the United States.
